Itinerary

Day 1Arrive Guwahati & Transfer to Kaziranga (Assam)

  • Morning/Afternoon: Arrive at Guwahati Airport (GAU). Our Eastern Safari representative will greet you and assist with your transfer to Kaziranga National Park (approx. 5-6 hours).

  • Afternoon (Kaziranga Arrival): Check into your wildlife resort/hotel. Relax and prepare for your exciting wildlife adventures.

  • Evening: Enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the national park area.

  • Overnight: Resort/Hotel in Kaziranga.

Day 2Kaziranga National Park - Wildlife Safari Adventures (Assam)

  • Morning (Elephant Safari): Embark on an exhilarating Elephant Safari in the Western or Central Range of Kaziranga (pre-booking essential). Get up close with the endangered One-Horned Indian Rhinoceros, wild elephants, swamp deer, and various bird species.

  • Late Morning: Return to the resort for breakfast.

  • Afternoon (Jeep Safari): Enjoy a thrilling Jeep Safari in a different range (e.g., Eastern or Central Range) to explore diverse habitats and spot more wildlife, including wild buffaloes, numerous migratory birds, and perhaps even a tiger if luck favors you.

  • Evening: Leisure time to relax or enjoy the resort amenities.

  • Overnight: Resort/Hotel in Kaziranga.

Day 3Kaziranga – Tezpur – Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh)

  • Morning: After breakfast, begin your journey from Kaziranga towards Dirang (approx. 7-8 hours total driving). We’ll make a brief stop in Tezpur, the “City of Eternal Romance,” to stretch our legs and perhaps grab a quick bite.

  • Afternoon (Dirang Arrival): You will enter Arunachal Pradesh at Bhalukpong, where your Inner Line Permit (ILP) / Protected Area Permit (PAP) will be checked. Arrive in Dirang, a charming valley town amidst the mountains. Check into your hotel.

  • Evening: Relax and acclimatize to the higher altitude.

  • Overnight: Hotel/Homestay in Dirang.

Day 4Dirang – Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh)

  • Morning: Post-breakfast, embark on a breathtaking drive from Dirang to Tawang (approx. 5-6 hours).

  • Afternoon (Sela Pass & Tawang Arrival): The journey ascends to the iconic Sela Pass (13,700 ft), often draped in snow, offering incredible panoramic vistas. We’ll pause at the serene Sela Lake. Upon arrival in Tawang, check into your hotel.

  • Evening: Experience the crisp mountain air and explore the local market.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Tawang.

Day 5Tawang - Bum La Pass Excursion (Arunachal Pradesh)

  • Full Day (Tawang & Bum La Excursion): Today, we explore the high-altitude wonders around Tawang. Subject to road conditions and an additional permit (which we will assist with), we’ll drive to Bum La Pass (approx. 15,200 ft), the Indo-China border, offering raw, spectacular mountain scenery and historical significance. We’ll also visit Pankang Teng Tso Lake (PT Tso Lake) and the majestic Nuranang Falls (Jang Waterfall).

  • Afternoon: Return to Tawang.

  • Evening: Leisure time.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Tawang.

Day 6 Tawang - Monastic Grandeur & Local Insights (Arunachal Pradesh)

  • Full Day (Tawang Exploration): Immerse yourself in Tawang’s primary attractions:

    • Tawang Monastery: The crown jewel – the magnificent 17th-century Tawang Monastery, the second-largest Buddhist monastery in the world. Spend ample time here, observing the monks, prayer halls, and museum.

    • Urgelling Monastery: The birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, offering a serene and historical insight.

    • Jaswant Garh War Memorial: A poignant tribute to a brave Indian soldier of the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

    • Craft Centre and Emporium: Browse for traditional Monpa handicrafts and souvenirs.

  • Evening: Enjoy the peaceful ambiance of Tawang.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Tawang.

Day 7Tawang – Bomdila (Arunachal Pradesh)

  • Morning: Post-breakfast, begin your scenic drive back from Tawang to Bomdila (approx. 6-7 hours), once again traversing the Sela Pass.

  • Afternoon (Bomdila Exploration): Check into your hotel. We’ll visit the Bomdila Monastery for its peaceful ambiance and panoramic views, and enjoy the sweeping vistas from Bomdila View Point.

  • Evening: Leisure time in Bomdila.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Bomdila.

Day 8Bomdila – Guwahati (Assam)

  • Morning: After breakfast, embark on a significant drive from Bomdila back to Guwahati (approx. 8-9 hours). This will be a long travel day as you descend from the hills and enter the plains of Assam.

  • Afternoon (Guwahati Arrival): Arrive in Guwahati and check into your hotel.

  • Evening: Relax and unwind after the journey.

  • Overnight: Hotel in Guwahati.

Day 9Guwahati Local with Brahmaputra Cruise (Assam)

  • Full Day (Guwahati Exploration): Explore the capital city of Assam.

    • Morning: Visit the revered Kamakhya Temple, one of the most sacred Shakti Peeths.

    • Afternoon: Explore local markets for souvenirs or visit the Assam State Museum (optional).

    • Evening: Enjoy a memorable Brahmaputra River Cruise, witnessing the stunning sunset over the mighty river (subject to availability and weather conditions).

Day 10Guwahati – Departure

  • Morning: Post-breakfast, depending on your flight schedule, our representative will transfer you to Guwahati Airport (GAU) for your onward journey.
