ILP stands for Inner Line Permit. It is an official travel document issued by the government authorities that allows Indian citizens, as well as foreign nationals, to travel to certain restricted areas within the country. The ILP is primarily required for domestic travel to regions that are located near the international borders of India, especially in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Manipur, among others.
For foreign tourists planning to visit Arunachal Pradesh, several documents and permits are typically required to ensure compliance with local regulations and facilitate smooth travel within the state. The main documents and permits required for foreign tourists visiting Arunachal Pradesh include:

The RAP is issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs or designated authorities and allows foreign tourists to enter and travel within specified areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
Protected Area Permit (PAP): Certain areas within Arunachal Pradesh are classified as protected areas, and foreign tourists are required to obtain a Protected Area Permit (PAP) in addition to the RAP to visit these restricted zones. The PAP is also issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs or designated authorities.
Valid Passport: Foreign tourists must possess a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months from the date of arrival in India. The passport should contain a valid visa for India, allowing entry into the country.
Visa for India: Foreign tourists visiting Arunachal Pradesh must have the appropriate visa for India, such as a tourist visa, business visa, or e-visa, depending on the purpose and duration of their stay. The visa should be obtained prior to travel from the respective Indian diplomatic mission or through the online e-visa portal.
